Bassoe Technology joins CIMC

December 2013, The design and engineering specialist, Bassoe Technology AB, based in Gothenburg, Sweden, has been acquired by CIMC Offshore, a subsidiary of the Shenzhen and Hong Kong listed shipping and logistics group, China International Marine Containers Group (CIMC). 

CIMC has a strong global market position, and has an ambitious and promising growth strategy to become one of the leading players in construction of floating rigs. Bassoe Technology will play a key role in executing this strategy, and will provide CIMC with first-class design and engineering know-how, says Mr. Helge Larsen, Managing Director of Bassoe Technology. 

Bassoe Technology, which was founded by the Bassoe Group and key employees, has since 2007 been a leading design and engineering company, specializing in floating and mobile units for the offshore oil and gas industry. CIMC has acquired 90% of the company and the Bassoe Group will retain 10% along with a board seat. 

Bassoe Technology will continue to operate as an independent company. The management team will remain the same and will be headed by managing director Mr. Helge Larsen. Mr. Erland P. Bassoe continues to be committed to the company as shareholder and board member. 

The management and employees are excited to become a member of CIMC, and remain committed to continue developing the Bassoe Technology brand and to build on the company’s reputation as a premium provider of basic engineering services for the offshore rig industry, says Mr. Larsen. 

CIMC’s strong reputation and financial and construction resources combined with Bassoe Technology’s expertise within basic rig design and engeenering will position CIMC as the world’s sole full scale player within rig development, from concept and design to a finished and operating floating unit.

BassoeTechnology provides its many clients with hiqh-quality design and engineering services for development of floating and mobile offshore units, such as semi-submersibles, drillships, FPSOs, and tender drilling support units. The company’s senior engineers offer work in all phases in a project, from concept development through class approval design to shipyard support. 

Over the years we have developed several leading offshore units, among them UDW drillship BT-UDS Sigma Drilling, work-over rig Helix Q5000 and tender drilling vessels BassDrill Alpha & Beta.
